"Candy Striped Barn in the Palouse Hills" Magnet
This square timber frame barn on Spangle-Waverly Road was built in 1900 on the property homesteaded by George Clark in 1894, and owned by artist-painter Nona Hengen at the time this photo was taken. It is listed on the Spokane County Heritage Barn Register. It's alternately white and red stripes and its whimsical horse weather vane add a country charm to this historic building that made it an irresistible photo subject.
